Communiqué de la SADC sur la rencontre

Following the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government held on 1 June 2012 in Luanda, Republic of Angola, the Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defense and Security Cooperation and President of the Republic of South Africa, H.E Jacob Zuma, in consultation with the Organ Troika convened a meeting between H.E. Andry Rajoelina, the President of the Transition and H.E. former President Marc Ravalomanana in the Republic of Seychelles from the 24th to the 25th July 2012.

The meeting took place within the context of ensuring full implementation of the Roadmap aimed at ending the crisis in the Republic of Madagascar. Before commencing the meeting, H.E President Jacob Zuma, observed a moment of silence in respect of the death of H.E Atta Mills, the late President of the Republic of Ghana. In attendance was H.E James Michel, President of the Republic of Seychelles and host of the meeting.

In this regard, the meeting was held in a peaceful and serene environment on Desroches Island, Seychelles, hosted by the Government of the Republic of Seychelles. Discussions were cordial and the participants displayed good leadership. All the parties were satisfied with the progress that had been made in bringing H.E Andry Rajoelina and H.E Marc Ravalomanana together in search for a lasting political solution in Madagascar. The presence of the two leaders was a clear indication of their commitment towards finding a lasting solution to end the political crisis in the country.

During the meeting it was agreed that the two leaders should reconvene to conclude on the outstanding issues stemming from the implementation of the Roadmap in order to report to the Ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government.

The meeting expressed gratitude to H.E President James Michel, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Seychelles for their generosity and hospitality.

Suite au Sommet Extraordinaire deS Chefs d’Etat et de Gouvernement, tenu le 1er juin 2012 à Luanda, en République d’Angola, le Président de l’Organe sur la Politique, la Défense et la Coopération de Sécurité et Président de la République d’Afrique du Sud, SEM Jacob Zuma, en consultation avec l’Organe de la Troïka, a convoqué une réunion entre SEM Andry Rajoelina, Président de la Transition et l’ancien Président SEM Marc Ravalomanana, dans la République de Seychelles les 24 et 25 juillet 2012.

La réunion s’est déroulée dans le contexte de garantir la complète application de la Feuille de route destinée à mettre un terme à la crise dans la République du Madagascar. Avant de débuter la réunion, le Président Jacob Zuma, a observé une minute de silence dans le respect de la mort de SEM d’Atta Mills, président de la République du Ghana. Le Président de la République des Seychelles, James Michel, le Président de la République de Seychelles était l’hôte de cette réunion.

À ce sujet, la réunion s’est tenue dans un environnement pacifique et serein sur l’Île de Desroches, Seychelles, par les bons soins du Gouvernement de la République de Seychelles. Les discussions ont ét cordiales et les participants ont affiché une bonne maîtrise. Toutes les parties ont été satisfaites du progrès qui avait été fait dans le but d’amener SEM Andry Rajoelina et SEM Marc Ravalomanana à rechercher ensemble une solution politique durable pour Madagascar. La présence des deux leaders a été un signe clair de leur engagement pour la conclusion de la crise politique dans leur pays.

A l’issue de la réunion il a été convenu que les deux leaders devraient se réunir à nouveau pour se mettre d’accord sur l’application de certains termes inscrits dans la feuille de route, accord qui sera rapporter au prochain Sommet Ordinaire des Chefs d’Etat et du Gouvernement.

Tous les participants à la réunion expriment leur gratitude au Président, SEM James Michel, au Gouvernement et au peuple de la République de Seychelles pour leur générosité et leur hospitalité.
